Get to know GenErika
Born and raised in the seaside town of Blackpool, Luke began in interest performing from the age of 15. After the passing of his father, he wanted to stay productive and learn a skill to distract him from the incident. After singing lessons, multiple amateur dramatic productions and a college course in Performing Arts, Luke achieved a huge personal goal of studying a BA Hons in Musical Theatre.
After studying his craft at university and performing showcases in London and the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Luke travelled with performing working for companies such as Disney, Merlin, CCUSA and M&M Productions.
As years passed, Luke was inspired to create his own creative brand. During the pandemic, Luke committed all his time and money to learning the craft of drag and created GenErika.
During lockdown, Luke wanted to create his opportunity for GenErika by producing and editing her first online charity show. The first show raised £390 for a Orchid, a testicular cancer charity. Ever since then, any event that is produced under the GenErika brand always donates a portion to a chosen charity. Since then, GenErika has raised over £1400 for charity.
From starting out online, GenErika now travels round the UK performing and spreading her message of self love and feel good energy. GenErika has also performed in the United States. in 2023.
GenErika holds credits with Hebden Bridge Burlesque Festival, Happy Valley Pride, Kelham Pride and many more including Sally Wainright’s Riot Women. Her performance style varies from a punky, Mad Max themed lip sync to singing a powerful rendition of Your Song by Elton John. GenErika wants to leave an audience empowered and itching to see what they do next.
